With virtually everything customizable, from extensive preferences (easy to ignore and live with the defaults-at least until you feel familiar with the basics) to keyboard shortcuts and which panels show up where, along with a range of features that you decide if you need to use, I could wish other software programs at least paid more attention to designing their software more like this. The video tutorials on the site definitely demonstrate what you might be throwing out if you don't have a way to view the raw data and are always opening your files with the software's proprietary curve applied. I tossed better files for worse, but I'll never remember enough to know how many.

What I've found going through my old raw photos is that I've been tossing photos that were "losers" because I couldn't see the real raw, and when I finally made my own linear raw profile (which I can only use in CR/LR), I still had to jump through too many hoops to see technical quality. The URL for their main page with good pictures and descriptions of the basics of the program is īut I'll attach some screenshots so you can see if you might be interested. It's the most customizable program I've ever encountered. I thought Nancy might want to check it out, too, as it has many easy features to tell if your file has good exposure and sharpness where you want it-IF it's easy enough for her to see on her monitor. I burned all my raw files to disc for some time-the got into a throwaway mood-and now I'm sorry it did without having the benefit of FastRawViewer to help me cull. Ron might be interested because he culls his shots rather severely-that is, he trashes all but a few keepers. I don't expect anyone here to be very interested, although the price at ~$24 is cheap enough no one would be hurting to try it, I thought I'd show it here just in case.

It's for exactly what it says it's for-view raw files, and it's very fast. He's not always told me about software I want, but he's one of the most honest, thorough and reliable experts on software I know, so while I didn't think I would want it, when he speaks, I listen and check out what he's talking about.

Shortly before Black Friday last year, an online friend of mine who is both a professional photographer and compositor, but also an educator, told me about FastRawViewer.
